2011 Women's Basketball Bracket

After the quarterfinal rounds of the 2011 Horizon League women’s basketball championship, the top four seeds remain on top and will advance to the semi-finals on Friday.

Top-seeded Green Bay downed No. 8 Loyola, 89-41, at the Kress Center, becoming the first team in program history to reach 30 wins in a season.   The Phoenix earned the right to host Friday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship game.

The Ramblers finished their season with a 12-19 overall record.

No. 2 Butler defeated No. 7 Detroit, 64-38, at Hinkle Fieldhouse.  The Bulldogs moved to 19-12 overall with the win and has clinched at least a spot in the WNIT as the League’s second place team, while the Titans conclude their season at 13-18.

Third-seeded Cleveland State extended its school-record tying eight-game winning streak with a 61-58 win over sixth-seeded UIC on Wednesday at the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings improved to 20-10 with the win, reaching the 20 win mark for just the second time in school history, while the Flames finished the year at 14-16, its third consecutive loss to CSU in the quarterfinals.

No. 4 Wright State knocked off No. 5 Loyola, 63-58, at the Nutter Center on Wednesday, improving to 19-11 and tying a its record number of wins as a Division 1 program.

Wright State advances to Friday’s semifinals against #1 seed and #13/11 Green Bay.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30pm ET.  Butler and Cleveland State will square off in the second semifinal at 9pm.

The winners will advance to the final game on Sunday at 1pm ET in Green Bay for the championship title and an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
